How Long Does it Take to Recover after a Regenerative Medicine Procedure?

The first thing you wonder when you go in for any procedure is how long the recovery time will be. If you’re planning to get a procedure in regenerative medicine in Palm Beach, you probably want to recover quickly so you can get back to your daily life as soon as possible. We completely understand the urgency.

So, how long will it take to feel better after a regenerative medicine procedure? It really depends on the individual and how quickly it takes for their body to heal. Generally, it can take a couple of months to get the maximum benefits of using stem cell products.

Are there procedures that work faster? Yes, but quicker isn’t always better. Here’s why:

Regenerative Medicine vs. Cortisone Shots

Since cortisone shots provide some kind of relief within 24 to 48 hours, people tend to go that route for quicker and more convenient relief. However, too many cortisone shots can do more harm than good. This is because, over time, these can degenerate your joints, rupture the tendons, or cause osteoporosis in the treated area. You may be getting relief quicker with cortisone shots, but it will lead to more significant issues you’ll have to treat in the future!

Regenerative medicine takes more time to provide relief because the stem cells in this procedure constantly work to fix the actual problem rather than covering up the symptoms. If you aren’t feeling 100% better after about a month of getting the injection, that’s completely normal.

Regenerative Medicine Healing Process

At Palm Beach Health Center, we want our patients to feel relief as quickly as possible. We also want you to heal properly and prevent further complications down the line. To achieve this, we use two products during your regenerative medicine procedure.

Mesenchymal Cells

These cells come from umbilical cord stem cells and can differentiate into a variety of cell types. This product takes between six to ten months to achieve maximum correction in the affected area because they’re constantly working to repair itself. About nine to twelve weeks after a sprain is when the soft tissue begins to heal in that area. The stem cells will continue to reproduce over the next six to ten months to fully heal the area.

Amniotic Fluid

The amniotic product we use in conjunction with the mesenchymal cells contains a high percentage of growth and anti-inflammatory factors. This product not only helps the stem cells, but its anti-inflammatory and pain-reducing properties make you feel better faster. Patients have reported feeling relief in just a few days because the amniotic product has caused any inflammation to subside.
